Bio: An American Abstract Expressionist painter whose
place in art and 20th century painting has not perhaps been
fully recognized. Famous for his black and white paintings he
could nevertheless express himself in a palette of color and
his paintings exude enormous energy and concentrated
expression.
A likeable and good-natured man, Kline was also an athlete and
the art-world was shocked at his untimely death in 1962 from a
rheumatic heart problem.
