Bio:Klee was an inventive and prolific artist who worked in many different styles, managing to make each his own.
As a boy he learned to play the violin and later married the pianist Lily Stumpf and for a time it seemed unclear whether Klee would make music or art his life.
In 1931 Klee was appointed to the Dusseldorf Academy of Fine Art, but was dismissed two years later, under Nazi pressure. He traveled widely and his experiences are reflected in many of his works.
