^ London Calling…….”The Houses of Parliament at Night” - Andre Derain (1906)
As an aging Luddite, I’m pleased to see that new on-line social media is increasingly becoming a learning resource. Today I stumbled across a Facebook page dedicated to the French Fauvist artist Andre Derain.
Derain, together with his contemporary of Matisse, became the “Wild Beasts” of the art world at the dawn of the twentieth century. My love of his paintings is perhaps skewed – London is one of my favorite world cities and his Andre Derain’s paintings of the River Thames and Tower Bridge in London are unique and iconic.
